Overview
Stuyvesant Theater Community, or STC, is a student organization of Stuyvesant High School. STC produces three shows annually: the Fall Musical, the Winter Drama, and the Spring Comedy. All three shows are completely student-run.
While STC has three high-commitment seasons, participation in all is not required, and members can choose their level of involvement. Rehearsals and crew meetings are generally held on every school day of a production cycle, which lasts from 4-6 weeks every Fall, Winter, and Spring. Before each cycle, there are two weeks of pre-production, including one week during which Cast Directors and Producers are chosen, and one week of auditions and crew recruitment. 2-4 weekend rehearsals are held per show, usually lasting for the length of two or more rehearsals, and taking place on one day of the weekend. For each crew, it is at the discretion of the directors which crew members are needed on certain days, so commitment varies based on crew and role in said crew. While daily rehearsals will usually last around two hours, during each production’s three show days, performers and technical crew members will be expected to stay later into the evenings.

SLATE
STC is led by SLATE, a student board composed of three Executive Producers, two Technical Coordinators, and a Director of Communications. A new SLATE is chosen every Spring. SLATEs are typically comprised of majority seniors.
Each Executive Producer is in charge of one of the shows. Executive Producers pick their shows, work with faculty advisors to develop schedules, chose cast directors and producers (as well as music directors and choreographers when necessary), control finances, and generally act as the highest student authority within their production.
The Technical Coordinators oversee the technical crews: Art, Costumes, Lights & Sound, Props, Stage, and Tech. They track progress, enforce deadlines, facilitate communication between crews, monitor technical-related purchases, and select technical directors. They work closely with the Executive Producer for a given show.
The Director of Communications updates and maintains all STC platforms, maintains the bulletin board, and publicizes productions.

Other Leadership
Other than SLATE, all STC leadership and crew members change from show to show.
Producers, deputies of the Executive Producer, are the next authority after SLATE. There are 2-3 Producers who facilitate auditions, manage general finances, collect contracts, create and order playbills, order merchandise and concessions, create tickets, sell items at shows, work on advertising, and so on. This is an administrative role that is crucial to the functioning of STC.
Each department is led by 2-4 Directors or Assistant Directors. Directors carry out the responsibilities of their crews, represent their crews in meetings, communicate with Technical Coordinators and Producers, select crew members, and ensure their crew members are on task and regularly attending rehearsals.
